Coffee & Calm

This much-loved café, popular with local residents and school-run parents, serves coffee and comfort from early morning through to late afternoon. While the original interior was clean and practical, it lacked the warmth and character the owner wanted to offer both loyal regulars and first-time visitors.

The redesign focused on softening the space. Working with the existing flooring and counters (refreshed with a lick of paint), we introduced organic shapes, comforting textures, and a palette of natural tones to create a more inviting, calming atmosphere.

To encourage visitors to settle in – whether for a quick morning coffee or a focused afternoon of remote work – I added more comfortable seating and tables for an improved experience. At the entrance, a reconfigured layout now includes bar seating and a console table, improving the flow and making better use of the space. A new leafy mural and touches of greenery bring a gentle, organic feel throughout.

In the back room, banquette seating has been added for extra comfort and cosiness, and the children’s corner has been refreshed and upgraded. A splash of colour on the walls and some thoughtfully chosen artwork make the space feel more playful and visually engaging.

The result is a relaxed, familiar space – a calming backdrop to everyday life, and a warm reflection of the community it serves.
